Fat Monster

We initially planned on going to Burger Lab, but we found out that it was closed on Mondays-! Dang it. So we settled for the next burger bin to conquer on our list... FAT BOYS-! Thank goodness it was a Monday, otherwise I wouldn't even dream of going there on a weekend. The last time Ellen and I tried going there on a Saturday evening, it was so bloody packed and it didn't seem like anyone was going to finish anytime soon.

The servers were so desperate to give us a table that they asked us whether we'd like to sit with 3 really buff guys. I honestly thought Ellen would go for it but she surprisingly turned it down ahahaha so we went somewhere else instead.

The first thing we did when we got a table, which was stupendously easy because the whole place was empty *shockers*, was grabbed the menu and started scanning all around in search for our perfect burger. There's 2 sides of the menu, one where all the speciality burgers are displayed, and the other side where you can custom make your own burgers. The type of meat, toppings, sauces and buns... All your choice-!

And the beverage menu. Nothing too fancyful, which should be the way to a burger joint. There's no use for cleverly mixed mocktails and what not. But I was a bit disappointed to see that they didn't serve milkshakes :/ What's a good burger without a strawberry milkshake?! What a waste to my cheat day. In the end, all four of us ordered a root bear each lol.

After ordering, we finally had time to admire the place. Doesn't really give out the very cosy vibe, and I think it would be rather uncomfortable dining in during peak house because I'd imagine the place to be quite cram. If you're there for the burgers and burgers ONLY, then it's a pretty nice place. But I don't recommend it if you'd wanna chill and chat for long after your meal.

And here's the "Build your own burger menu" on the wall-! Only 4 simple steps to the burger of your dreams. Personally, I'd rather order whatever is ready on the menu. Give me too much variety to put in my burger and I'll be too spoilt for choice.

Burgers came about 15min after we've ordered. We've been looking forward to this day ever since last week... Only thing was that we had Burger Lab in mind. Owh wells, we're not complaining-! Can't really comment much on the presentation because, it is basically one piece of lettuce and a slice of tomato with a bed of fries -.-"

JWen's "Fat Basterd". Two chunky beef patties with cheese, fried egg and bacon in a sesame bun.

Gavin's "Jamaican" burger. Forgotten what was the filling heh.

WeiMae's "Bello Burger". Portobello mushroom with cheese and grilled capsicum in a wheat bun.

And my "Whimpy" burger. It's basically a smaller version of "Fat Basterd", with an additional slice of grilled pineapple Mmmmmm...

Gavin here is very excited about digging into his burger. We starved ourselves on purpose during lunch to ensure that there's enough room for burgers. By then it was 3pm so you can imagine how hungry we were.

JWen and I with our burger while WeiMae was at the washroom. I need to get my hair fixed pronto.

Ho Bitch's 20th

The HoBitch finally turns 20-! Well, she doesn't actually turn 20 till the 27th but close enough. Celebrated a week early because she wanted to go partying as soon as possible and couldn't wait for the next weekend lol. Reservation at 8pm for 13pax at the Daily Grind Bangsar Village, but only had full attendance till 8.40pm -.-"

I've always suggested Daily Grind as a makan place for the the gang but the plan always fails because other eateries will come up now and then, then we'd totally forget about Daily Grind. Our next burger stop will be Burger Lab and Fat Boys which seems to be everyone's favourite burger place nowadays. Can't miss out on the hype now can I?!

Notice the description? "set of buns, but not a breast in sight" ahahahaha.

Daily Grind is an American Diner that serves gourmet burgers and awesome milkshake-! Opt for mango juice instead because I can't let my cheat day get that far. They also have "specials of the month" and this months special is doughnut burger, glazed doughnuts served with beef patties? Nawh I'll pass.

It'll take you forever to decide on what to order because everything sounds sooooo good-! I ended up ordering the same thing as I did during my last visit, Crabby Caesar Salad and Triple Stack Burger, both of which I was sharing with HoBitch. I swear I'm going to order the Breakfast Burger during my next visit grrr.

Ma awesome ladies waiting for their food. We were mad hungry by then, didn't even wait for the boys to order lol they were stuck in a massive jam.

I can has dark red deep dye-! Jokes. It was just a clip on. Cost me RM26 for 4, including postage. This so happened to be my favourite colour out of the bunch (royal blue, baby blue & hot pink) and it went missing in the club later that night-! Imagine the frustration man, I just received the package on the day itself then it went missing -.-"

I seriously blame it on the crowd that night, it was awfully crammed, like to the extend you couldn't help but grind every move you make and I think the extension got pulled off somehow. And mind you, the clip-on is quite secure so someone must have yanked hard.

Got really chatty with the girls then before we knew it, the food arrived-! WeiMae ordered a hot chocolate.

Meatloaf with a side of mash, corn bread and onion rings

Soft shell crab burger with fries and salad on the side. Must not neglect the starch and fibre-!

Triple Stack Burger that HoBitch and I shared. 3 thick ass beef patties with beef bacon and a fried egg. I could only finish one patty and chucked the rest to HoBitch heh.

HoBitch be sexcited about the burger-!

Close up homnomznomznomznomzzzzz. I find this quite impossible to finish, if its only one person eating laa.

Lamb pasta with olives

Crabby Caesar Salad. Once you go crabby, you never go back... Seriously. I used to think that Dave's Bistro has the best Caesar salad but no, THIS is the best.

Owh, all the ketchup and chili sauce at The Daily Grind is homemade. Tastes so much better and even more tomatoey or chilier as opposed to Maggi or Kimball or whatever.

Fun fact, do you know that ketchup and chili sauce contains more preservatives and sugar than the actual tomato and chili essence? Nasty. But I still consume them ahahaha.

Half of the Triple Stack. Greasy goodness mmmmm. I'm so hungry right now :/

After dinner, Wenyi decided that our ugly photo's need stocking up. Andrea&Wenyi claimed that they are essential as they are a test for our future husbands/wives too see whether they would want to be married to someone with a face like THAT.

We beat those 2 losers flat. Reigning champions *high5*

Drea, Black, Wenyi, Mich, Ariel, WeiMae, Hippo with the bday girl

"Ji Mui" clan, which was originally the "Spinsters" clan lol lack of attention much. Each one of us got kicked out slowly by Black&Bob whenever we had a boyf or a love interest. Hence, the change in name.

JWen, Gavin, Stone & Ken

Fargutz-! Seriously man what kindda name have they picked for themselves.

I've known this bitch for 3 years now. I forgot how we became close or how we even started to talk. I used to hate her ahahaha because she'd always wear shorts and sneakers to class when we were suppose to be in formal wear all the time. She's one of the few people in my life who I find superbly comfortable to be around. I know she won't judge me no matter what I do and vice versa.

We've had a lot of ups and downs in between, more downs though I hate to admit it but it has always been a love hate relationship between the both of us lol. Okay I really suck at all this sentimental crap. Just know I love you laa haiyohh.

Not Exactly Foodies, But Close Enough

What's a good road trip without good food? Almost inevidable am I right? And what an awesome treat to start the week with, 2 cheat days in a row-! So after Hello Kitty Land, Joelle brought all of us to this BBQ place in JB town. Let the drooling begin...

Spicy BBQ chicken wings

Spicy BBQ ham and shrooms. These were so amazing-!

Fried rice. Mehh... Had better

Lou shu fun. Had better as well.

Spicy BBQ brocolli, long beans and mushrooms. I spammed the long beans man ahaha XP

We started off the next morning with ice kacang laced with warm chocolate syrup in Johor. This is a real treat and it was the first time all of us tried such a thing. But after the ice melts and becomes all watery, you can't really taste the chocolate anymore. It was good while it lasted though.

Stopped by Melaka for a bit to drop Gavin home. But not before we went to eat chicken rice balls for lunch-! I think we were really lucky that day because we went to almost all the famous Melaka delicacies and only had to queue for a really short period.

Simple and timeless set up. Managed to get a place after waiting for 15 minutes or so.

And after 10 more minutes, we've got them delicious chicken-! Aww yeah the first bite was so juicy, panty dropper sial LOL.

1 leaves you hungry for more. 3 makes you too jelat. 2 hits the right spot.

Now, chicken rice was just the pre-lunch of our lunch. We went to Donald & Lily's next. They used to be located at Jonker Street but have relocated to the straits where its much bigger. First visit here.

Refreshing cendol-! Though its not the durian cendol I was hoping to indulge on during my trip, but it'll suffice. Cendol without gula melaka are just plain cheats okay-! Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Rojak. Could have passed on this. Wasn't a big fan of their "special kuah". It sorta tasted like it was almost perished :/

Their trademark laksa-! Omgosh this was soooo good-! But funny enough the laksa in Melaka tastes more like curry instead. I guess different states have different ways of preparing this dish.

JWen with his mini bowl of laksa. Ellen and him shared a bowl but he ended up getting the smaller bowl instead ahahaha.

And after our lunch we went to Nadeje for desserts-! There are 3 outlets in total located in Melaka I think? I'm not to sure whether there's 2 or 3. The newest branch is located in the mall but we went to the pioneer one.

I had the original mille crepe. Personally, I think the crepe's from Humble Beginnings is better because its the crepe's thickness is just nice, and its relatively thicker than the one from Nadeje. Also, Nadeje's one is sooo much more sweeter-!

Ellen had the Tiramisu. Nothing to shout about, could hardly taste the tiramisu essence.

JWen & Gavin shared this pecan flavoured one. But it tasted more like hazelnut.

All in all I think that the cakes are okay, but the mille crepes in Humble Beginnings are more flavourful and more worth the money in my opinion.

I find the set up of the restaurant a bit dodgy though. Like it's too dark and gloomy for my liking. To give you a better understanding, it feels like you've stepped into Wong Kok's darker sister's restaurant lol.

We were all stuffed by 6pm but it was dinner time-! Gavin brought us for the ever so famous Melaka satay celup. Ellen had already changed into a "fat shirt" by then ahaha. The queue was quite long but it only took us about 15/20min to get a table. Yay us-!

Spammed loads of wan tan, fried devils and baby corn-! This was like half of the first round.

Spammed quail eggs, fishballs and crab meat the second round. This was quarter of it.

Into the boiling pot of spicy kuah you go-! Mmm nomz nomz nomz. I had only try satay celup once before this trip and since I was one of the first few patrons the last time, I got a fresh pot of kuah and ever since then I've always assumed that they change it after the first customer. Boy was I wrong :/ So can you imagine reusing the same pot of kuah used by the people before you?! Owh god nasty shit -.-" Come to think of it satay celup is soooo damn unhealthy, but sooo good le sigh.

My ridiculously cute fishcakes ahahaha. But they taste so artificial and... Urgh...

Bleeeehhhhh zombie walker fishcakes *braaaaaains*. I think I watch too much walking dead ahaha. Fin.
