What's a good road trip without good food? Almost inevidable am I right? And what an awesome treat to start the week with, 2 cheat days in a row-! So after Hello Kitty Land, Joelle brought all of us to this BBQ place in JB town. Let the drooling begin...
Spicy BBQ chicken wings
Spicy BBQ ham and shrooms. These were so amazing-!
Fried rice. Mehh... Had better
Lou shu fun. Had better as well.
Spicy BBQ brocolli, long beans and mushrooms. I spammed the long beans man ahaha XP
We started off the next morning with ice kacang laced with warm chocolate syrup in Johor. This is a real treat and it was the first time all of us tried such a thing. But after the ice melts and becomes all watery, you can't really taste the chocolate anymore. It was good while it lasted though.
Stopped by Melaka for a bit to drop Gavin home. But not before we went to eat chicken rice balls for lunch-! I think we were really lucky that day because we went to almost all the famous Melaka delicacies and only had to queue for a really short period.
Simple and timeless set up. Managed to get a place after waiting for 15 minutes or so.
And after 10 more minutes, we've got them delicious chicken-! Aww yeah the first bite was so juicy, panty dropper sial LOL.
1 leaves you hungry for more. 3 makes you too jelat. 2 hits the right spot.
Now, chicken rice was just the pre-lunch of our lunch. We went to Donald & Lily's next. They used to be located at Jonker Street but have relocated to the straits where its much bigger. First visit here.
Refreshing cendol-! Though its not the durian cendol I was hoping to indulge on during my trip, but it'll suffice. Cendol without gula melaka are just plain cheats okay-! Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
Rojak. Could have passed on this. Wasn't a big fan of their "special kuah". It sorta tasted like it was almost perished :/
Their trademark laksa-! Omgosh this was soooo good-! But funny enough the laksa in Melaka tastes more like curry instead. I guess different states have different ways of preparing this dish.
JWen with his mini bowl of laksa. Ellen and him shared a bowl but he ended up getting the smaller bowl instead ahahaha.
And after our lunch we went to Nadeje for desserts-! There are 3 outlets in total located in Melaka I think? I'm not to sure whether there's 2 or 3. The newest branch is located in the mall but we went to the pioneer one.
I had the original mille crepe. Personally, I think the crepe's from Humble Beginnings is better because its the crepe's thickness is just nice, and its relatively thicker than the one from Nadeje. Also, Nadeje's one is sooo much more sweeter-!
Ellen had the Tiramisu. Nothing to shout about, could hardly taste the tiramisu essence.
JWen & Gavin shared this pecan flavoured one. But it tasted more like hazelnut.
All in all I think that the cakes are okay, but the mille crepes in Humble Beginnings are more flavourful and more worth the money in my opinion.
I find the set up of the restaurant a bit dodgy though. Like it's too dark and gloomy for my liking. To give you a better understanding, it feels like you've stepped into Wong Kok's darker sister's restaurant lol.
We were all stuffed by 6pm but it was dinner time-! Gavin brought us for the ever so famous Melaka satay celup. Ellen had already changed into a "fat shirt" by then ahaha. The queue was quite long but it only took us about 15/20min to get a table. Yay us-!
Spammed loads of wan tan, fried devils and baby corn-! This was like half of the first round.
Spammed quail eggs, fishballs and crab meat the second round. This was quarter of it.
Into the boiling pot of spicy kuah you go-! Mmm nomz nomz nomz. I had only try satay celup once before this trip and since I was one of the first few patrons the last time, I got a fresh pot of kuah and ever since then I've always assumed that they change it after the first customer. Boy was I wrong :/ So can you imagine reusing the same pot of kuah used by the people before you?! Owh god nasty shit -.-" Come to think of it satay celup is soooo damn unhealthy, but sooo good le sigh.
My ridiculously cute fishcakes ahahaha. But they taste so artificial and... Urgh...
Bleeeehhhhh zombie walker fishcakes *braaaaaains*. I think I watch too much walking dead ahaha. Fin.
